What it was like to be in a podcast
I have taught jewelry making classes and sold my work at craft shows and through art galleries for years. So I am no stranger to speaking to and in front of people. My work along with photos of me have been in magazines, newspapers and book. I am always on social media answering questions about my work or showing how I do things. So talking about what I do and what I make is not something out of the ordinary either. But participating in a podcast is something I have never been asked to do before.
How it was different…
Doing this podcast was a different animal. Talking about how to do things to create jewelry is one thing. But talking about myself is something else! Now if you know me, talking about myself is not something I normally do. If you ask me a specific question about me I have no problem answering it. But usually after that the conversation moves on to something else. Being interviewed in a podcast where I had to talk about myself for 30 mins was totally different. It made me very nervous!
How it went….
Julie, from “Hey It’s Julie” Podcast, called me prior to our recording to let me know how it worked. She told me she could edit out my mistakes if need be, which made me feel a little bit better. But was I still nervous. I kept thinking “talk slow, don’t talk over her, and try not to say “Um” or “like” too much. And let me tell you… thinking those things and trying to answer questions at the same time is not easy! Professional speakers deserve a lot of credit!
I did get through it though. It also made me realize that even though I am not a fan of talking about myself, I am proud of the things I have accomplished. And no one knows me and my experiences better than me. So if talking about myself can help someone to make a living doing what they love then why not share the things I have learned over the years, right? All in all it was a great experience, and I am glad that I had a chance to participate!

Loved listening to your Podcast! I’m a long time jeweler and I’m still working on figuring out how to do social media myself. I really admire your work and your business and how you operate your social media!
